Abara is a nonprofit based in El Paso, TX, dedicated to fostering connection, learning, and action on both sides of the US-Mexico border. In response to global migration and deepening polarization, Abara creates spaces for education, advocacy, and peace-building—inviting people to listen, engage, and respond with meaningful action. Through immersive Border Encounters, direct support for migrant shelters, and the development of Abara House—a first-of-its-kind peace-building center at a historic border crossing—Abara seeks to amplify underheard voices, challenge narratives, and cultivate a more just and connected world. Rooted in the tradition of global peacebuilders, Abara envisions a future where communities flourish through justice, healing, and shared humanity.
