Act (Advocates for Community Transformation)

Reid Porter is the founder and CEO of Act (Advocates for Community Transformation). Act is a place-based, Christian justice organization that seeks to equip residents living in high-crime areas to fight crime on their street. Act has established a regional model in the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex and is poised for national expansion. Reid holds a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law where he was an editor on the law review and received a B.A. in history and minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to founding Act, Reid was a trial lawyer in Dallas. He is a 2019 Manhattan Institute Civil Societies Fellowship Alum, a 2018 Stand Together Catalyst, and a 2015 Praxis Alum. Act is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the 2019 Manhattan Institute Richard C. Cornuelle Award for Social Entrepreneurship, WORLD Magazine 2016 Hope Award Regional Winner, and the 2017 Safer Dallas Better Dallas Public Safety Leader Award. His work has been featured in Forbes, WORLD Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, and D Magazine. Reid and his wife live in Dallas with their four amazing children. He is passionate about fitness, songwriting, spiritual and emotional health, and the outdoors.
