The Order of the Common Life is a global ecumenical religious order reimagining monasticism for the whole Church. By sharing a common rule of life rooted in practices of historic religious orders—thoughtfully explored through the traditional stages of monastic formation in postulancy, novitiate, and vows—the Order is inviting people into a pathway of lifelong formation through shared commitments in their everyday lives and community to become evangelists for the love of God. They believe that a renewed and innovative vision for monasticism must be a part of the Church’s missional witness for the future.
