Rays of Hope has the vision to ensure that children and youth in Malawi have access to transformative education. Their model strengthens teachers’ skills and supports learners in schools. In 2021, over 3,000 teachers were reached, serving 230,000 beneficiaries across 221 primary schools in 5 districts. Rays of Hope contributed to the following achievements.
1) Zomba Rural Education district moved from position 10 to 2 out of 34 education districts in terms of performance at the national standardized exams.
2) Blantyre Rural Education district moved from position 34 to 29 education districts in terms of performance at the national standardized exams.
3) 31 out of 40 targeted schools in Blantyre Urban scored over 72% at the national standardized exams.
4) 98% completion rate in the afterschool initiative participants, and
5) 99% grade promotion rate for all afterschool program participants.
